02 Mar Cocktails for Wales

As it was St David’s Day yesterday, we’d like to offer up something of a Welsh themed cocktail post.

Let’s get started with that well-known Welsh emblem and pride of the Welsh Flag, the Red Dragon. Yes, we were super excited to discover the fruity and fiery Red Dragon Cocktail.

reddragonRecipe from the Welsh distillery, Penderyn:

  • 31½ml Brecon Gin
  • 31½ml Grand Marnier
  • 25ml blood orange juice
  • 25ml lemon juice
  • 3ml shot grenadine

See http://www.welsh-whisky.co.uk/About-Penderyn/Cocktails/Red-Dragon.aspx for full details.

Next up, Welsh with a Royal twist – The Prince of Wales Cocktail. We wonder if the current Prince of Wales has ever tried one! You’ll need, champagne, Grand Marnier, Cognac, Angostura Bitters and brown sugar. Check out the recipe at Difford’s Guide.

Daffodil_DriverAnd lastly, we can offer up a lovely daffodil-themed cocktail, the Daffodil Driver from the food network:

Ingredients:

  • 1 part apricot nectar
  • 1 shot peach vodka
  • 1/2 shot apricot brandy
  • 1/2 shot orange-flavored liqueur (recommended: Grand Marnier)
  • Orange and lemon wheels for garnish

We hope you’ll agree that it looks delicious. It gets us all excited for the springtime!
